Not sure quite what to make of this

I’m having very conflicted feelings about out lesbian Ellen Degeneres being the new Cover Girl model. so I’m putting out a call to other aging feminists: What do you think? Watch and take the poll below.

Is Ellen as a cosmetics model a civil rights breakthrough or feminist setback?

If you had a “neither” response I’d vote in your poll. It isn’t feminism to only allow the non-physical beauty of a woman to be accentuated. And caring about her sexual orientation… really? This matters? At all?

Ellen is lovely (I’ve always thought so) and talented and smart. Why can’t she have fun with this?

Why can’t Ellen have fun with this? Why can’t I? Lighten up, Justin. Or perhaps you don’t understand aging feminist humor. A few hundred CR meetings might help.

In some ways, it’s a good thing for her to be doing these commercials. At least they are using an older person(she just turned 50) in their ads now and not an anorexic 20 something.
