If you plan to vote for Obama, but haven’t yet made a contribution — maybe you’ve been meaning to, but just haven’t gotten around to it — this would be a very good time.
The campaign has a goal of 100,000 new donors by midnight tonight — and throws in a nice incentive for those only able to make small donations.
With just 45 days left before the election, your support will affect crucial decisions about infrastructure in key battleground states. A donation now could have a big impact on voter registration and Get Out The Vote operations — so please don’t wait if you’re planning to give.
And if you make your first online donation today, your gift will go twice as far. A previous donor has promised to match every dollar you donate.
A matched donation of $5 becomes $10, a donation of $25 becomes $50, and a donation of $50 will become $100.
Show your support before midnight tonight and double your impact.
I actually got my mother to make a small donation. She’s never donated to a candidate before in her long life (she’s almost 87), but Sarah Palin scares the shit out of her. Mom was for Hillary, wanting desperately to see a woman at the helm of this country in her lifetime, but the thought of that woman being a corrupt right-wing nut is completely unacceptable to her. I didn’t know if she’d ever come around to supporting Obama at all, much less with any enthusiasm, but Ms. Palin has done the trick, and for a white woman raised in the deep South well before the civil rights era, she’s come a long way, baby.
So thanks, John and Sarah!
Tough question Rena. Obama’s complete and utter capitulation on FISA annoyed me deeply. However, I only have two options, which Obama pointed out to me when I lodged my annoyance with his campaign. But there is another option, and that is the level of support one gives a candidate. As a result I am withholding any financial support. I will vote for him but my money goes to Rice. I cannot donate to Obama who promised during the primary to filibuster any FISA bill that contained immunity for the telecos and once he received the nomination did the exact opposite of that.
Pissed me off, he did.
