The fight against telecom amnesty

Senator Chris Dodd was a hero today. His fellow senators who are also running to be the leader of the free world: not so much.

I have to admit, though I signed online petitions on this issue, I didn't call or write, because I just had given up hope that it made one iota of difference. Although the fight is far from over, today showed that grassroots lobbying can make a difference, and that the netroots can be a real force in politics, when their energy is focused and has a viable advocate to help advance their demands.

I expect many were like me, and that many of us have been re-awakened and won't be quite as demoralized or inactive next month.

Fantastic day for progressive political junkies!
