Netroots,
Politics and Government
I hate all this ideological arguing right now on the Left blogs. It’s getting worse than the Obama/Clinton divide. This is when we desperately need to be working on strategy — you know, what will actually work.
I’m progressive as anyone, but we have to consider what’s feasible in the current political reality, which is pretty horrendous because… Read the rest

Over on the Democrats of Oklahoma Community Forum, there is a discussion about the Senate race against Coburn next year. Unless I am misunderstanding it, some are apparently arguing that Dr. No should not even have a Democratic opponent next year, he’s just “unbeatable,” the party’s broke, etc.
I’m registered as a Democrat because of this state’s restrictive… Read the rest

I am disassociating myself with Firedoglake.com.
Although I had an account on the site for commenting, I was never a regular reader and maybe posted once or twice; still, I feel a little dirty.
I have unsubscribed from their action e-list, and though there’s no way to delete the account on the site, I did create a filter that will… Read the rest

Yes, it’s war all right, but on civility and multiculturalism, not Christmas.
Dear Miss Manners:
I work as a cashier during the Christmas season, and I often wish my customers “Happy holidays.” Sometimes customers get all offended and reply with something like “I choose to celebrate Christmas,” or they go into this long angry rant about the use of

Bernie Sander’s allotted 30 minutes on his proposal for single-payer health care (after Oklahoma asshat Senator Tom Coburn, on behalf of the Asshat Party, required a reading of the amendment to slow down the process, and Reid demanded Sanders pull the bill so he could kiss Nelson’s ass for Christmas).
And anyone offended by my calling a certain party… Read the rest
John Wood has informed me that this Friday he will be testifying at a hearing of the Ethics Commission regarding an amendment he proposed that would give legislators the ability to get on “no gifts list” (indicating they don’t want to be wined and dined — or otherwise bribed — by lobbyists). The idea has been proffered before and… Read the rest

Geekery,
Just life,
Oklahoma
Last year I handed out (metaphorically speaking) some Oklahoma netroots blogger awards and really intended them to become an annual thing to do on my blogiversary (Thanksgiving weekend) but not only have I been a bad blogger this year, I’ve been a pretty sporadic reader of Oklahoma-based blogs as well.
Considering my self-defined mission here (online and off),… Read the rest
Here are my photos from today’s demonstration against Obama’s escalation of the war in Afghanistan.
The turnout was pathetic. I’m sure there are many reasons why. Even while Bush was still in office, there were fewer and fewer people coming to various events. But once Obama was elected, interest in the actions really evaporated, with some justification, with… Read the rest
Well, more disappointment from Obama. Now we know who really runs this country while he is president — the same folks who have been running it (badly and into the ground).
I will be joining The Peace House folks and others tomorrow at a demonstration to say No to Escalation in Afghanistan. (I think there is… Read the rest
